Restoring Scan to Email for Gmail Users After Google's 2FA Deadline

Google's new email security requirements cause scan to email failure for Gmail users

What’s this, Jon Pumroy and Eric Haines from our imaging team, manning the Help Desk phones? Yes, and with good reason—they are freeing up our Help Desk staff to assist customers in restoring scan to email function on MFPs and printers. May 30th marked the deadline to comply with Google’s new email security requirements for App Passwords. The new two-step verification requirements apply to all Gmail accounts and has had a major impact on not only Gmail users, but also on print devices that use Gmail to create simple scan-to-email functions for users. Failure to comply causes scan to email on all MFP/Copiers to fail if it was set up with a Gmail email address. Our Help Desk team was able to quickly restore almost 100 customer accounts, thanks to the assist from our service repair/digital imaging team!
